What problems do children with autism spectrum disorder face?

People with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) find a range of challenges affecting various aspects of their lives. The list of the most important challenges below :

1- Social communication and interaction:

Persons with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) experience difficulty in understanding and using language, as well as difficulty in reading facial expressions and understanding social signals along with difficulty in forming relationships and friendships, and may feel particularly lonely and isolated when their behaviour is misunderstood by others, which can lead to frustration and rejection.

2- Stereotypical behaviours and limited concerns:

People with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) exhibit recurring behaviors such as flapping or shaking their heads and have specific and intensive interests in specific subjects, which may hamper their ability to interact with the world around them and integrate into society. [1]

3- Sensory challenges:

Among the difficulties faced by people with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) are high sensitivity to light, sounds or smells. Conversely, we may find them insensitive enough to these stimuli and therefore have difficulty processing, understanding and responding to sensory information. These sensory challenges lead to anxiety, stress and disturbed behaviors.

4- Cognitive Development:

The rate of cognitive development of people with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) varies so that some children are delayed in learning skills such as speech and walking, while others may develop at a normal rate in some areas and face difficulties in others, while delayed cognitive development affects their ability to learn, perform in school and obtain jobs.

5- Learning and Education:

People with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) experience learning difficulties in a traditional classroom environment because they need special educational and teaching methods that meet their individual needs and it is important to provide a supportive learning environment that encourages learning and development.

6- Daily Life:

People with autism spectrum disorder (TSA) face difficulties in accomplishing day-to-day tasks such as bathing, eating and dressing and need the help of others in some tasks, but it is important to teach them independence skills and to train them to accomplish day-to-day tasks by relying on themselves.
